READ on for birthdays, Succot evening, and news of a food event next week in Pinner….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: to Daniel Marx, Emmanuel Aharoni, Natalie Cohen and Helen Ellison who celebrate their birthdays this week. MAZEL TOV: To Reggie Goldner – who’s grand-daughter Rikki, will be marrying Yehuda on 9th November in Israel.
COME AND SUPPORT Max Alexander (Andrea & Simon’s) and Hannah Glass (Elaine & Simon’s) at the Challah Bake. It was brilliant fun last year and you can taste each other’s Challah’s at future shul Friday nights. We can house 30 people to this. Please book via the Mosaic link at the top of this email.
SHABBAT IN A SUCCAH: Last Friday evening we wrapped up warm and together with Linda, Edwin, Marilyn & Stanley, Irwin and I had the pleasure of bringing in Shabbat in the beautiful Succah of Rabbi David and Ruth Soetendorp. Despite our fears we were very cosy and thoroughly enjoyed making Kiddush and bringing in Shabbat in such a special way. We had our first course outside under the canopy of the Succah, which you can see in the photo, (taken after Shabbat!). We then moved inside for a delicious meal of Vegetarian Moussaka, Green rice salad (yes green and very tasty J), Macaroni cheese, Ratatouille and salads. It is so special to share Shabbat with friends in the community and we look forward to many more. Zara & Irwin Spilka
EVENT AT PINNER SHUL NEXT WEEK: Pinner Synagogue is hosting an evening of Kosher Food, including talks with Q&A’s by a rep from the KLBD as well as Stephen Grossman (of Silvermans) on Tuesday November 1st at 8.15pm. It promises to be an interesting evening, and overall another important step in meeting with our local kosher butcher so everyone can understand each others needs and raison d’etre. The underlying goal is clearly to encourage everyone to support our local butcher – because this shop in Hatch End staying open remains important to the overall longevity of the Jewish Community in HA5. There is NO CHARGE for the evening and there will be FREE FOOD! Contact Gerald Isaac at Pinner Synagogue on email@example.com
Book keeper for Jewish Joint Burial Society: The Jewish Joint Burial Society, which provides funeral services for nearly 40 Reform, Masorti, Liberal and independent synagogues, is looking for a part time bookkeeper to be based at its offices in Wanstead with some possible work from home in the future. Please contact Clare Lubin, Hon. Treasurer for more details or send a letter with a CV to her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
