HAPPY BIRTHDAY: to James Alexander who celebrates his birthday this week.

SIMCHAT TORAH: Mazel tov to our honorants this year – Johanna Marx and Edward Kafka.   There will be a Erev Simchat Torah (Hakufot) service on Monday 24th October at 7pm to be held at Kol Chai Synagogue – where we will honour our Chattanim.  All HEMS members are welcome to attend.

MASORTI STUDENTS: “Our communities outside London would like to welcome our Masorti students, and have their involvement in these small communities.  Please can I ask that you put contact details of our communities in Oxford, Leeds, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Bristol into your newsletters and bulletins so that your community’s families can tell their students just going or returning to university now to be in touch for more information on how to get involved.  Just click on these links:  OxfordLeeds , Liverpool , Bournemouth  or  Bristol . Many thanks.  Shana Tova”  Olivia Lesser, Masorti Communications & Events Officer

JEWISH LIVING EXPERIENCE:  “The Jewish Living Experience is coming to the Cathedral and Abbey Church in St Albans, from 29th November to 9th December. This Board of Deputies project is an exhibition primarily aimed at schools, to enable pupils and their teachers to gain insight into Judaism and Jewish life. Secondary schools in the St Albans area have been invited to send parties of students to view the displays. We are looking for volunteers to be at the Abbey to answer pupils’ questions and support teachers during school visits. There will be two sessions, one from10 to 11:30 am; and the other from 12:30 to 2 pm each day. Training will be provided to those who offer to help.  More information can be found on the Board of Deputies website.  If you have any questions, or if you are available to help at one or more sessions, please email Beverly Cohen .
