Articles for the new Kehila magazine
The closing date for the next Kehila magazine is midnight on Sunday 6th August. That is in 16 days so please get thinking. We would like photos and your thoughts. Andrea Morgale is hunting for new contributors to contribute articles.
It is 59 days till the Shofar is being sounded on Second Day Rosh Hashannah.
It is only 59 days till we will all hear the shofar being sounded in shul and that is on Second day Rosh Hashannah. Just 8 days later,
it will be Neilah and the shofar will be sounded again once the ark curtain has been closed. It is really powerful. We will have the official shofar blowing and we also INVITE all Shofar blowers to sound Tekiah Gedowlah. We have just inherited a new shofar which is waiting to be sounded. If you can perform this mitzvah and do not have a shofar, please let Edwin know edwin.lucas6@googlemail.com and you can try it out for tone and pitch. There are at least another 10 other shofars in the community, that I now of and they all need to be sounded. Do not be shy and bring your shofar along and let us have a minyan of shofar blowers. That is probably a first for that topic in the coming New Year, so yes, we will recite a shehechyonu.
Thinking about Andrea Morgale and her wish to find new articles for Kehila, how about doing an article on your very own shofar? I visited a new family last week and heard that their shofar is 104 years old. That is older than our oldest member and she is 103.5. It was beautifully displayed and it can still be used. Please dust down your shofars and let us see them in action. Articles can be written by ALL age groups AND can be enjoyed by ALL age groups too. If you wish someone to sound your shofar on your behalf, Please advise Edwin Ludas and we will make your dream.
