Mosaic Masorti News

Thanks
I would like to thank everyone for all the wonderful attendances over the High Holy Days. We had, including children and visitors, a peak of 181 people on RH 1 and 157 on 157 Yom Kippur. The atmosphere was fabulous and this was down to everyone who attended. To put this into context we had 85 people for RH last year.  We had a wonderful set of daveners and had some first timers who will give others inspiration. Please give newness a go and this will promote togetherness and our future. I loved the shofar blowing at the end of Neilah. It will leave a lasting effect on me and let’s look at a minyan of shofar sounders for post Neilah next year. I wonder who has the longest shofar in their collection

Succot
Tomorrow is succot and we will be having a service in shul at 18.45. We will then be having a meal in the succah. This will be a great shehechyonu occasion for Mosaic Masorti and all Mosaic Jewish Community.  Come and join us in the sukkah and experience the experience of doing something new. The weather forecast is good.

People visiting the succah on Sunday
Our neighbours in Stanmore are coming to our succah on Sunday and they will experience the tradition of using a lulav and etrog. We are looking for sukkah guides and we will also be showing them our shul and what it does. If you have time Sunday afternoon between 3.00pm – 5.30pm, please advise Edwin who will add you to the list of assisters.

Simchat Torah
Michael W Harris and Linda Lucas will be honorants at Simchat Torah on Saturday night and Sunday morning. They will be reciting a shehchyonu, as this will be our first pair of honorants at Stanmore Hill AND they will both be doing leyning of the end and the beginning of the torah scrolls.  Please join them for hakufot on Saturday night. We are longing to find more dancers, so do not be shy and give it a try. “Strictly” will feature PROMINANTLY.

Yom Kippur appeal
We will be sending out the annual appeal letter for funds to support both causes highlighted on Kol Nidrei. Both charities need active help so please give us what you can. The equivalent of everyone giving an Aero Bar cost per week to the charities will make a huge difference to the two charities.

Good Yomtov and I look forward to see many of you shaking the lulav this weekend and smelling the etrog.
