For many years we have been using the Hertz Chumash to follow the Torah readings and for study of the weekly Torah portion and Haftorot. Whilst Chief Rabbi Hertz’s erudition is impeccable, the Hertz Chumash is now nearly 100 years old.
We have decided as a community, with advice from our Rabbis and communal ritual leaders, to switch to the Etz Hayim Chumash with an up to date commentary and contemporary English. You can use Wikipedia to learn about its origin and style.
A donor has made available funds to buy a number of Chumashim for the community but we would be delighted if any member wanted to make a donation towards extra chumashim or possibly buy one for themselves at the same time as we are ordering for the community. There is a full size version as well as a compact travel edition. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact David Leibling 07720 052539 or email Chair@choosemosaic.org before 31 March.
