Israel Independence Day Democracy picnic

Dear friend,

75 years ago in the Hebrew calendar, the leaders of Israel signed the Declaration of Independence. This Yom Ha’atzmaut, as we celebrate, the values set out in that inspirational document are under attack.

That is why this Sunday we are calling on the British Jewish community to join us to support the principles of the Declaration of Independence.

Join us for a Yom Ha’atzmaut Democracy Picnic to celebrate Israel’s landmark anniversary, to raise our voices in defence of democracy, and to oppose the current Israeli government’s regime coup.

The event will be held in Highgate Waterlow Park this Sunday April 30 from 1-4pm. There will be live Israeli music, Israeli folk dancing, Declaration of Independence signing, stalls and leaflets, activities for children, and more.

Speakers will include Sir Mick Davis, Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner, Eliad Shraga (Israeli Movement for Quality Government), economist Gilat Levy and Joel Rosen (UJS).

As members of this community’s leadership, your attendance at our picnic would send a powerful message of support to the Israelis taking to the streets every week to fight for Israel’s democratic soul.

Israel’s need for your support cannot be overemphasised.

Please see the itinerary for the event below – we look forward to seeing you there!
