What is it?
The World Zionist Congress election happens every five years. This year in the UK it is coming down to a real vote, where every congregant (and friends and family) needs to cast an electronic ballot.
How urgent is it?
9 April – 12 May, is the registration period. Anyone who is going to vote has to register at this time.
The vote itself is 9 – 16 June but it will be won or lost in the 9 April – 12 May registration period.
Voter registration is now open! Please go to zionist-federation.uk/registration and register. You’ll need photo ID (take a picture of your passport or driving licence) and a credit or debit card to make a £1 payment.
Why is it important?
Progressive Judaism in Israel stands for Pluralism, Democracy, Equity, Security, Justice, a path to Peace. There are billions of dollars in the balance that can be distributed according to our values, or according to the whim of the UK’s newest political party – Shas.
If we don’t take our rightful share of the votes and resources, they will go to those who actively work to oppose our members rights, our movement’s presence, and the values that animate many of our Zionism ideals.
Our people on the ground need our support and our votes.
OUR ISRAEL is the joint Masorti-Reform-Liberal list running in this year’s elections for the World Zionist Congress, the international parliament of the Jewish people.
We are at a turning point in Jewish history. The voices of non-orthodox Jews have never been more crucial.
Ultra-orthodox and hard-line nationalist parties are working hard to shape an Israel where our values are not welcome. If they win, they will chip away at democracy, attack religious freedom, defund our communities and shut moderate voices like ours out.
A vote for OUR ISRAEL is a vote for peace, pluralism, strengthening our communities, returning the hostages, gender equality and LGBT+ rights.
These elections are a unique opportunity to make our voice heard. Vote OUR ISRAEL to defend the values of tolerance and democracy, and support Israel to live up to its highest ideals.
