Chagigah 2016: celebrating Reform Judaism, being part of something bigger
24 – 26 June 2016
Chagigah is our biennial celebration of Reform Judaism. Chagigah means just that: a celebration. It reflects the special atmosphere we will create over a weekend away, celebrating Reform Judaism and being part of something bigger.
At Chagigah this year, Reform Judaism will launch three initiatives as part of our commitment to strengthen communities, inspire our members and pursue tikkun olam, repair of the world. We invite you to embark on a journey that has the potential to transform your community and make a real difference by taking part in one (or more) of our new on-going initiatives. These initiatives are designed to involve all communities, regardless of their size and geography. We will partner with you after Chagigah to continue their implementation and development within your community.
The Strengthening Communities Initiatives will focus on three areas: leadership, action and practice. Reimagining synagogue leadership; tackling adult social care in our communities and beyond; and enhancing individuals’ Jewish practice and experiences.
The initiatives are the result of discussions involving Reform Judaism’s professional staff, rabbis, members and lay leaders and we hope you will agree that they address some of the key issues affecting us all.
Is it for you? Yes! Either as part of a synagogue delegation – speak to your council about being part of a team – or if you want simply to enjoy a joyful, fun, uplifting, spiritual, family-friendly gathering. The weekend will also feature wonderful, music-filled services, inspiring speakers and learning opportunities for all ages and levels with a special series of sessions from Leo Baeck College as we join them in celebrating their 60th anniversary.
