Friday
Come along to a Masorti Evening service in shul starting at 1830 followed by a potluck dinner where you can meet members from all three synagogues
Refuah Schlemaha Our services are for all members of the community, be we in good health or slightly below par.
We mention people by name, if requested, to wish them renewed full health and we do this every week. We also mention friends and relatives of members of the community and are delighted to do so. Please advise Rabbi Anthony, as late as Shabbat morning in shul, if you would like someone to be mentioned, or email him in advance by mid-day Friday rabbianthony@mosaicmasorti.org.uk
This Shabbat There will be additional heating in our shul space. We know the temperature for the last two weeks has been rather ”fresh”. The building developers have agreed to instal permanent additional heating / ventilation, so the prayer space is suitable for all eventualities in all seasons.
The sound proofing will, by the time you receive this newsletter, have been improved with additional insulation added to columns.
Next Friday 15th December There will be a Friday night service and meal at the home of Rabbi Anthony and Abi. Please book early to guarantee your place rabbianthony@mosaicmasorti.org.uk

This is the Chanukah message from the President of the Board of Deputies, Marie van der Zyl.
At Chanukah, we celebrate the redemption of the Jewish people from the yoke of their oppressors. In the darkness of winter, we light candles to represent freedom and hope. Never has Chanukah been more meaningful than this year. Israel was plunged into darkness on 7 October 2023 by the most appalling terrorist massacre that the country has ever experienced. We have all grieved for those lost and abducted and prayed for the safe return of the hostages still in the clutches of Hamas. Continue reading →
Liberal Judaism and the Movement for Reform Judaism write, “Our Mission is to bring light this Chanukah”.
Usually we explain the festival of Chanukah with the Midrash that tells of the miracle that occurred when the Jews entered the Temple of Jerusalem, after having freed the city from Greek invaders. Continue reading →
Sad News Yvette Vinacour passed away on Tuesday after a very long illness. Yvette is survived by her husband Norman. They were both highly respected founder members of HEMS now known as Mosaic Masorti. Yvette and Norman moved to Shenley several years ago where they became involved with Shenley Synagogue.
March against Anti Semitism
The march last Sunday was extremely well attended. A special mention to the Head of Mosaic Security, Daniel Brown, who was there with many other CST volunteers helping to keep the marchers safe .

In 2024 Mosaic Jewish Community is planning a 4-5 day trip to Poland to visit places of Jewish interest and we would like to see who may be interested in making such a visit, possibly in October.
In our initial research we have discovered “J Roots” – a recommended provider of Jewish educational visits who tailor-make trips, accompanied by an experienced educator, to bring important places to life and make it meaningful to the participants. “J Roots” organises hotels, transport, guides, meals and flights based around an itinerary and dates which suit each group. More information is available on their website: www.jroots.org.
We’re delighted to have had several replies to date, if this is something in which you may be interested in participating, please get in touch with Anita Feldman via the Mosaic office no later than 15th December. admin@choosemosaic.org
