Offers of Accommodation for Ukrainian Refugees

Together with other Reform and Liberal synagogues, we are collecting names of possible hosts to offer temporary accommodation to a Jewish (or non-Jewish) family or individual, if visas are suddenly granted.

There would have to be due process – such as safeguarding and to check your premises are suitable – while you would need to be assured that the guests would stay only for the time you stipulate is possible for you to host them.  We will then work with whatever major Jewish organisation and Government department that is taking the lead in dealing with temporary re-rehousing. We often refer to the kindertransport and what a wonderful effort that was.  Now may be the time that our generation is called to respond in a similar way. Please let the office know if you would like to be part of this effort.

If you are able to support World Jewish Relief’s efforts financially:

Rabbi Anna Wolfson joining our Rabbinic team

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rabbi Anna Wolfson.

Rabbi Anna will be joining us full time in January 2022. Anna will spend the majority of her time as our Development Rabbi, working in a role across the 3 Mosaic synagogues, Liberal, Masorti and Reform – and between and beyond those expressions of Judaism – helping us develop Mosaic’s mission to “choose your Jewish life”.

Anna will also spend around one quarter of her time at Mosaic Liberal working alongside Rabbi Rachel Benjamin.

Anna grew up in Nottingham as a member of the Nottingham Liberal Synagogue. Between university and attending Leo Baeck College Anna has worked as a movement worker for LJY Netzer and was an educator for the Netzer gap year program in Israel.  Anna was ordained in the summer of 2020 and has since served as the Rabbi for Beit Klal Yisrael, Norwich Liberal Jewish Congregation, and as the Chaplain for Progressive Jewish Students. Anna lives with her fiancée (soon to be wife) and two dogs.

Commenting on joining the Mosaic community, Anna says “I’m very excited to join this community and be part of its new journey in a new building. I am looking forward to building relationships, working with my rabbinic colleagues, facilitating creative community spaces, and being part of the wider Stanmore community.”

Mosaic co-chair Mark Phillips commented on Anna’s appointment “Our priority as a community as we emerge from the pandemic and look forward to our new home in Stanmore, is to help Jews “choose our Jewish life” – providing a diverse range of ways to engage with Judaism and our community.  Anna’s skills, experience and passion for Judaism make her perfectly placed to move us in this direction. We are excited that Anna is joining us.”
