Rabbi Anna Posner joining our Rabbinic team

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rabbi Anna Posner.

Rabbi Anna will be joining us full time in January 2022. Anna will spend the majority of her time as our Development Rabbi, working in a role across the 3 Mosaic synagogues, Liberal, Masorti and Reform – and between and beyond those expressions of Judaism – helping us develop Mosaic’s mission to “choose your Jewish life”.

Anna will also spend around one quarter of her time at Mosaic Liberal working alongside Rabbi Rachel Benjamin.

Anna grew up in Nottingham as a member of the Nottingham Liberal Synagogue. Between university and attending Leo Baeck College Anna has worked as a movement worker for LJY Netzer and was an educator for the Netzer gap year program in Israel.  Anna was ordained in the summer of 2020 and has since served as the Rabbi for Beit Klal Yisrael, Norwich Liberal Jewish Congregation, and as the Chaplain for Progressive Jewish Students. Anna lives with her fiancée (soon to be wife) and two dogs.

Commenting on joining the Mosaic community, Anna says “I’m very excited to join this community and be part of its new journey in a new building. I am looking forward to building relationships, working with my rabbinic colleagues, facilitating creative community spaces, and being part of the wider Stanmore community.”

Mosaic co-chair Mark Phillips commented on Anna’s appointment “Our priority as a community as we emerge from the pandemic and look forward to our new home in Stanmore, is to help Jews “choose our Jewish life” – providing a diverse range of ways to engage with Judaism and our community.  Anna’s skills, experience and passion for Judaism make her perfectly placed to move us in this direction. We are excited that Anna is joining us.”

Our New Mosaic Home – Planning Permission Granted!

We are excited to let you know that Harrow Council last night approved the plans for our new home on Stanmore Hill, and the associated redevelopment of Bessborough Road.

As you are aware, we have been seeking to move for a long time.  It has been a period of uncertainty and frustration for our community – thank you all for your patience, perseverance and support.

There remains a lot of work to do to finalise contracts and documentation, so we anticipate we will be in Bessborough Road until at least June 2020.  We will provide updates over the coming days and weeks as this progresses and invite you to join us at Bessborough Road for tea and cake on Sunday 2nd February anytime between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm if you’d like to know more or have any questions – or you can email us if that’s easier.

A huge amount of thanks and credit must go to Lawrence Chadwick and the Property Working Group for the 5+ years of effort that has got us to this point

This is a fantastic opportunity to create the next chapter in the life of our community so if you would like to help and be part of it in any way then please  contact us.  The work involved ranges from art and décor through to use of storage space, to how we will use the building and evolve what we do as a Community in our new home.  So whatever your skills and passions there is a place for you on the team.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Celebrate Chanukah at Mosaic

This is an opportunity for Mosaic Jewish Community to meet Rabbi Natasha at Bessborough Road at 6.00 pm for the lighting of the chanukiyah, havdalah and doughnuts!
Please bring your own chanukiyah and candles and add some light to the darkness.
Do let the office know you are coming so we’re sure to have a doughnut for you!  020-8864 0133 or email: admin@choosemosaic.org
