Please join us on Friday 18th January  when Chazan Bex Blumenfeld will again be sharing shabbat with us. There will be a Friday night service at 7.00 pm, followed by a meal at the home of Linda & Edwin Lucas.
Chazan Bex will lead services and deliver the dvar on Shabbat Beshallach, 19th January.

We  ask for a donation of £8.00 per single adult or £20 per family, towards the cost of the meal, which is subsidised by the shul. This can be by cheque (payable to HEMS) or directly into the HEMS bank account (reference 18th January). We also ask for food or drink contributions towards the meal. CST Training Courses

CST (Community Security Trust) wants to ensure that people have the training they need for when they do security at their synagogue. We deeply appreciate the part that these volunteers play in helping to secure our community and we have built a training course to meet those needs.

The training will teach the essentials of security work, in a concentrated space of time. It is ideal for those who already participate in voluntary security but have minimal knowledge of what to actually do. It will also provide an excellent basis if you want to learn more and go on to a more senior security role, either locally at your synagogue or more broadly as a full volunteer member of CST.

The course lasts six hours and is covered in either one day of six hours, or two separate sessions of three hours. It does not contain any physical element and upon completion, participants will become Security Support Officers affiliated to CST. To become affiliated to CST, participants must be aged between 18 and 65, but we do appreciate some people fall outside the age range. For those that do, they can still attend the training and benefit from the knowledge gained, but will not be affiliated to CST on completion.

We have arranged for courses to take place in September in the build up to the High Holy Days.   In order to participate on the course you must first complete the relevant online registration form on CST’s website:

Option 1: Mondays 4 & 11 September – Northwood Area (19.30 – 22.30) – https://cst.org.uk/courses/level-1-course-060-northwood-september-2017

Option 2: Thursdays 7 & 14 September – Borehamwood & Elstree Area (19.30 – 22.30) – https://cst.org.uk/courses/level-1-course-063-borehamwood-september-2017

Once CST has received and approved your application, you will receive a confirmation email. Unfortunately, no one can be admited anyone for training who has not gone through this application procedure. Spaces for these courses are limited and priority will be given to those who book early. If these course dates are not suitable to yourself but you are still interested in attending a course, please let us know so we can keep your details on record and advise you of future courses.

Should you have any questions regarding this course or anything to do with CST, then please do not hesitate to contact the training department on 020 8457 9988.
