HOW CAN YOU HELP SOMEBODY WHO CAN’T AFFORD A TOOTHBRUSH?
There are two ways to support our Drop-in collection at Mosaic.
DONATE TOILETRY ITEMS: gift sets, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste/toothbrushes, body wash/shower gel, body/hand lotion, deodorant, bars of soap, hand/face wash, razors/shaving gel, toilet rolls, incontinence pads. For babies/toddlers: nappies/pull ups, baby wipes, baby wash, baby shampoo.
ALTERNATIVELY, DONATE YOUR STUFF: in support of “Labels for Good” we will be delighted to accept high end designer clothing, shoes or accessories in good pre-loved or brand new condition. These will be sold through the Goods for Good eBay store and Vinted to generate vital funds to support their work.
Your generous contributions will help to make a difference to the lives of people facing acute hardship. Thank you for helping MJC to make an impact through “Goods for Good”.
TEA, BAGELS, INFORMATION AND CHAT
When you drop-in your donated items on 23rd February please stay around for a while. Enjoy a bagel and watch a short film about the work of Goods for Good and its ‘kind network’. Representatives of the charity will be on site to answer any questions and to signpost volunteering opportunities.
THE PROBLEM AND ITS IMPACT
In the UK hygiene poverty affects over 4.2 million people. Heating your home and feeding your children become the priorities. Toothpaste and other ‘essential’ toiletry items become unaffordable luxuries. (In Brent, 46% of five-year-olds have tooth decay, a higher percentage than those living in any other English local authority).
THE WORK OF GOODS FOR GOOD.
Goods for Good, work to alleviate the effects of those in dire need offering hope, comfort and care. In the UK donated items are distributed through the ‘kind network’ made up of 80 charity partners (a third of which are in Hertfordshire)
The mission at Goods for Good goes beyond the redistribution of goods; it’s about restoring dignity and hope. The essentials they provide — items that many take for granted — are often the lifeline that helps people move forward.
