Mosaic Culture Hub invites you to join London walks led by Steve Levinson, a qualified Institute of Tour Guiding Blue Badge Guide.
Join Steve at Guildhall Courtyard. Nearest tube Bank or Moorgate. £10 per head.
Each walk will take in a specific part of central London and will provide details of the area’s main points of interest taking in history, architecture, characters and events which give that area its own unique characteristics.
For safety reasons each walk will have limited numbers and will need to be pre-booked and paid for. See below.
The walks will usually start at 10.30am and take between 1 and a half and 2 hours but the distances to be covered are not great and the routes will start and finish at/near a tube station.
The story of Jewish immigration to London is often thought of as something that started in the late 1800s with people who spoke Yiddish not English and settled in places like the East End.
But Jews in London go back a lot further. There were the ones who came here courtesy of Oliver Cromwell, and before them the so-called hidden Jews. Even earlier were those who were guests of William the Conquerer. And as far back as Roman times there were also Jews right in the centre of London. On this walk, starting at Guildhall, you will learn about them all and see the places they worked, prayed and lived – and still do today.
