Join us for a session of “Untangling Our Tradition” which will now be held in-person.
This session will cover “Jewish History: Earlier, an introduction with Dr Joseph Finlay”.
These two sessions (today and 27th May) will be an introduction to Jewish history, or an introduction to thinking about Judaism historically. In the first session we will brainstorm the events in Jewish history that we each know of, and build upon this to create a compelling time line.
In the second session we will consider the various approaches Jewish historians have taken and how they might help us understand our place in Jewish history.
Dr Joseph Finlay holds a PhD in History from the University of Southampton, where his focus was modern British Jewish history. The autumn he will be a visiting fellow at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies.
