Out of the Shadows is a solo exhibition by artist and Mosaic Reform member Joan Noble who wants to highlight the turmoil of immigration, both in the past and present day.
Her work is influenced by migration from the perspective of Jewish immigrant history with the changes and effects on their lives post Holocaust and the similarity to today’s migrant experiences.
These issues have been Joan’s concern for decades, coming to terms with her own personal family story – with the loss of three grandparents in the Holocaust, refugee parents starting again in new lands, and herself coming from South Africa to settle in this country as a teenager in the 1960’s.
Out of the Shadows will be shown at the Etz Chayim Gallery. Northwood and PInner Synagogue, Oaklands Gate, HA6 3AA. from 12th September – 31st October 2016.
