Please join us at Bessborough Road to celebrate Purim!

5.30 pm children’s supper (for catering purposes please let the office know that you are coming by Thursday 5th March – contact details below)

6.00 pm separate services and Megillah reading followed by Purim Spiel, fancy dress parade & kiddush

Meet The Author – Adele Franklin

Tuesday March 31

Adele is a 59-year-old retired Chartered Librarian; she spent her professional life working with young people trying to foster in them a love of literature and provide for them a safe space in which they could flourish and grow.

Reading and writing have always been a huge part of her life and having given up work, she joined Hillingdon U3A and their Creative Writing Group, which she now runs.

She describes her style as quirky and runs the gamut from autobiographical pieces, to science fiction, humour to plays and murderous tales!

Join us at 3.00 pm when Adele will talk about her short story collection – with tea  and cake!   £5 per person

Pesach biscuit bake-in

Thursday April 02

Favourite family Pesach baking recipes will be made at 09.30 am.  The goodies will be enjoyed at our Communal Seder and during the Pesach kiddushim.  Come and enjoy baking amongst friends old and new.  Please let the office know if you are coming.  Just bring an apron and digital scales (if you have them)

Shabbat Refreshed

Saturday April 18

Rabbi Kathleen invites everybody young and old to Shabbat Refreshed at 10.30 am.  We will incorporate the Shabbat Shira music into the traditional service and we would like to invite all families to come and support this more family friendly shabbat morning service which we have renamed Shabbat Refreshed.  Singing, music, Torah service followed by Kiddush.

Guided Tour of Jewish Sites of Oxford’s Medieval Quarter

Sunday April 19

Join our guided walk to discover Oxford’s Jewish heritage with an opportunity to visit the Ashmolean Museum and see the Jewish objects in their collection. Tea will be hosted by the Oxford Jewish Community.  £25 per person which includes return coach transportation from Harrow at 10.00 am sharp.  Returning late afternoon.  Bring a picnic lunch and drink.  There are only 35 spaces on this trip – 28 already sold!!  Book your place via the office.  Cheques payable to HEMS or payment may be by bank transfer.
