Olga, Erika and Me

Wednesday, 18th March @ 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Olga, Erika and me is a deeply personal story that Ilanit Michele Woods  has made into a podcast, exploring three generations of women connected through memory, silence, and survival. It began when Ilanit Michele Woods received the English translation of her grandmother Olga’s memoir – a document typed on a blue iMac over twenty years ago, printed daily out of fear of losing it, and left forgotten under a bed in Montreal. Olga, a Holocaust survivor, struggled to speak her story aloud, and her daughter Erika found it painful to revisit. When Ilanit Michele finally read the memoir, she felt compelled to bring it to life – not as another Holocaust story, but as a living dialogue between past and present. The podcast weaves together the written words of a survivor, the memories of her daughter, and the reflections of a granddaughter seeking to understand the legacy of trauma and love.

Please book via the Mosaic website by Wednesday 11th March for catering purposes. There is a £7 charge which will increase to £10 from 12th March .

Irving Berlin – The Man Who Wrote America’s Songbook
Presented by Jonathan Bergwerk

Culture Hub @ Mosaic invites you to join us for a light lunch before a fascinating illustrated talk by Jonathan Bergwerk about Irving Berlin, who rose from a poor Jewish immigrant in New York’s Lower East Side to become the most successful songwriter in American history. With a career spanning more than 60 years, over 1,500 songs, 19 Broadway shows and 18 films, his music helped define American culture, from Alexander’s Ragtime Band to White Christmas and There’s No Business Like Show Business.

With video clips of his most memorable songs, this presentation brings to life the wit, charm, ambition and vulnerability of the man who wrote the soundtrack to 20th-century America.
