OUR CHARTER

MJC Social Action Hub: Charter     Ver. 1.2   August 2024

1. Purpose and Vision

The hub will provide our MJC members with opportunities to support social action programmes which make the world a better place (Tikkun Olam).

The hub will:

·         Bring order to our community efforts and help us differentiate between good and bad.

·         Help to bring God into our lives and the world by the moral judgements we make

·         Help us understand how our inner lives are affected and built by our actions.

2. Core Values and Principles

The hub will operate based on the following core values:

Empowerment: We empower individuals to take action and create positive change.
Inclusivity: We welcome diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Collaboration: We work together to address social issues such as deprivation and inequality.
Advocacy: We advocate for justice, equality, and human rights.

3. Goals and Objectives

Our specific goals include:

The facilitation of volunteering opportunities with partner charities who support vulnerable people.
Organisation of events to support partner charities.
The raising of awareness within our community and beyond of deprivation, social isolation and discrimination.

4. Membership of the Hub

Membership is automatically available to MJC members.Members commit to adherence to our core values and principles.
5. Meetings and Decision-Making

Regular meetings will be convened by a Social Action Committee [frequency TBD] to discuss progress, plan actions, and make decisions.
Decisions will be made through consensus or democratic processes.
Regular updates will be provided to the MJC Board.

6. Action Plan

The Social Action Committee will:
Develop an action plan that outlines specific initiatives, timelines, and responsibilities.
Regularly review and update the plan to stay aligned with our goals.

7. Communication and Outreach 

The Social Action Committee will:
Maintain open communication channels within the group.
Engage with the wider MJC community through social media, events, and partnerships.

8. Resources and Funding

The Social Action Committee will:
Identify available resources (human, financial, and material).
Explore funding opportunities to support our initiatives.

9. Evaluation and Impact

The Social Action Committee will:
Regularly assess our progress and impact.
Celebrate achievements and learn from challenges.

10. Commitment to Continuous Learning

The Social Action Committee will:
Encourage members to learn about social issues, community organizing, and effective advocacy.
